Turning hot to cold
Tried-and-tested cost effectiveness
The technology developed by SOLITEM for solar cooling is used in a raft of projects. The team headed by the company founder Dr. Ahmet Lokurlu has succeeded in developing a plant concept that trebles the efficiency of conventional systems for solar cooling. This permits extremely cost-effective operation.
- Wide range of applications
-
The SOLITEM technology works with multiple parabolic trough collectors that are connected in series. These concentrate the sunlight on an absorber pipe through which a heat-conducting fluid flows. The heat, which is concentrated in this fluid, is converted to cooling energy in a steam-driven absorption refrigerator. A system of this type can be used both to operate air-conditioning systems, for example at airports, in hotels or in private and public buildings, and for refrigerating plants, for instance in the food industry. As an alternative to conventional air-conditioning systems and refrigerating plants. The process steam generated can also be used for the warm water supply or for heating purposes.
- Excellent idea

SOLITEM has already received several awards for its innovations: the Energy Globe Award, the European Solar Prize 2005 and the Global 100 Eco-Tech Award show that the experts are convinced by the SOLITEM technology. In 2008, the company received multiple awards again: the „Kyocera Umweltpreis 2008” (Environmental Award 2008) at the occasion of the BVMW Economy Day and the “CDU-NRW Förderpreis” (award for Innovation from the Christian Democratic Union, CDU, and the federal state, NRW) at the Future- and Innovation Congress.
